Compassion

Ministries of Kindness and Generosity

Compassion is more than a feeling. It's a sense of concern for others that motivates us to take action to relieve suffering.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."

Matthew 25:35-36, NRSV

Neighbor's Store

Halstead First UMC frequently collects food, necessities, and monetary donations and delivers them to the Neighbor's Store on Main Street. Information on what is needed can be found in the newsletter and Sunday bulletin. Please drop items off in the gathering area at the back of the sanctuary.

Blessing Box

The Blessing Box is a free pantry located in front of the church. It provides non-perishable food (like cereal, canned soup/pasta, granola bars) as well as hygiene items (including shampoo, soap, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and toilet paper) to local residents when they need them. Feel free to take anything. Food and hygiene item donations are also accepted.

The Senior Lunch

The Senior Lunch is a relationship-centered ministry that gathers every third Wednesday at noon to share a meal, participate in table fellowship, hear stories from local residents, and learn about various community resources. The program is open to all seniors in the community.
