Are you looking for an exciting way to help the young people of our community in their faith journey? Halstead United Methodist Church is accepting applications for the position of Youth Minister. The Youth Minister will build a program for middle school and older youth with the help of volunteers. The position will average 10 hours per week. The Youth Minster at Halstead United Methodist Church should have a strong spiritual base in the United Methodist church or in a related denomination. This person will build a program based on Christian principles. This may include bible study, youth group meetings, worship, fundraising, youth trips and mission activities.
Duty Schedule:
An average of 10 hours per week

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required, degree in Christian Education preferred
Experience: Two years’ experience leading youth activities required, a proven track record leading Christian youth ministry preferred
Personal Skills:
Possess technical skills required to effectively communicate with today’s youth
Able to interact with people of various ages
Able to communicate, both orally and in writing, with youth and adults, including effective mass communication
Maintain accurate records
Be flexible and adaptable
Physical Capabilities: Must be able to handle stairs, significant walking and standing for a sustained period of time, and lift up to 30 pounds
Certifications: Safe Gatherings (provided by the church)
Responsibilities:
Leadership: Plan and lead groups and activities for youth based on Christian principles and guided by United Methodist materials
Executive and Administrative:
Periodically report to Staff/Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and consult with point of contact on a regular basis
Maintain up-to-date contact and medical information for all youth
Keep track of financials, both in-bound and out-bound
Build Positive Rapport: Establish a positive atmosphere with youth and church family
